Vision in Action (Yasuhiko Kimura)

				Yasuhiko Genku Kimura studies and teaches Authentic Thinking, and the path between such action and effective action. Here are two questions of interest to the Explorers Foundation. First: how do individuals make contact with, discover, and remember, what they love, and how do they form purposes and begin ventures arising from that knowledge? In a simple image, how do our feet find personal ground and walk on it? In thinking about this, Yasuhiko Genku Kimura's work is helpful. Second: Having fallen in love with patterns of treasured things and processes, and having learned that we rejoice in being among others who have done the same, how do we find and develop a system of law and government that can serve us well? In thinking about this, F. A. Hayek's work helpful. In 1960 F. A. Hayek dedicated The Constitution of Liberty: "To the unknown civilization that is growing in America". In 1973, in Law, Legislation and Liberty, Hayek proposed that the job of a legal system is to maintain an order supportive of the unknown and unknowable purposes of the individuals it serves. The work of Hayek and Kimura are related because authentic thinking is the only possible basis for a civilization fit for explorers, a civilization that will remain, in significant ways, forever full of the unexpected, of the unknown — and that will require us to govern ourselves in the midst of substantial uncertainty.
