The Explorers Foundation Glyphery is a collection containing indications of things that have to do with the emergence of a world fit for explorers, and of a people fit to inhabit such a world.
We intend that our work and the work of similar ventures will spread a conviction that such a world is the destiny of humanity, one hard fought for by a growing few over centuries. Such conviction will inspire an avalanche of events, in imagination, thought, and action that will make it so.
Glyphery: A bin of inscribed objects, textual and other, unordered, stored so as to be easily found, fetched, re-purposed and re-used by agents internal or external to the containing system.
From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913):
Glyph \Glyph\, n. (Arch[ae]ol.)A carved figure or character, incised or in relief; a carved
pictograph; hence, a pictograph representing a form
originally adopted for sculpture, whether carved or painted.
The work of inscribing glyphs on buildings, walls, and other highly visible places, has long been the work of deeply philosophical and visionary creatures known as Glyphons. It is to acknowledge the patient dedication of glyphons that we have chosen the word, "Glyphery".
