The Sand County Foundation's mission is to advance the use of ethical and scientifically sound land management practices and partnerships for the benefit of people and the ecological landscape.
Sand County Foundation is dedicated to the cultivation of a land ethic described by Aldo Leopold in A Sand County Almanac.
We believe that social forces, motivated by a land ethic, will yield the strongest and most lasting set of solutions to global environmental issues. We also believe that a land ethic will evolve with the practice of adaptive management. Sand County Foundation's core focus therefore begins with landowners themselves, applying principles of ethics, science and incentives so they may better meet their own goals on their land.
