Degree Confluence Project

a pattern of meetings on planet earth

The following was taken from the first page of the above truly magnificent site. is a tool of enormous value to explorers. -leif, 20 March 2004

'The goal of the project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location. The pictures and stories will then be posted here.

'The project is an organized sampling of the world. There is a confluence within 49 miles (79 km) of you if you're on the surface of Earth. We've discounted confluences in the oceans and some near the poles, but there are still 13,218 to be found.

'You're invited to help by photographing any one of these places. Read the Information pages, and contact us if you have questions.'

The first person known to me to have participated in a confluence is Steve Elliott, of Act with Genius, Longmont, Colorado, during his visit to Henry Okiria, of Learning Empowers Uganda. Here is a link to Steve's confluence in north central Uganda. -leif
