glyph 198: philosophy in music ... beethoven, ludwig from the beat field ... iraq, elections

Iraq, Beethoven, January 30, 2005

Sometimes Beethoven is right, and Associated Press, Reuters, New York Times are wrong

Something Beethoven had to say about the Iraqi elections:

Choral Fantasy, Berliner Philharmoniker, Chor der Deutschen Staatsoper, Daniel Barenboim, Itzhak Perlman & Yo-Yo Ma. EMI Classics.

30 January 2005

Millions of Iraqi's defy terrorists and vote. Whatever happens next, this music testifies to something in us that will not be killed, that must and will live.

Beethoven said that his music was not "tone poems", but was a form of speech. Think about the elections while listening to this music and ask yourself what Beethoven is saying.

Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma participate in the Triple Concerto but not in the Choral Fantasy. -leif

Explorers Foundation believes in paying musicians and producers in all cases where they ask for payment. There is no way to do this on YouTube. This needs to be thought about. When we take fruit from a tree and it needs water, let's give it water. -leif
