Getting to Maybe, by Frances Westley, Brenda Zimmerman, and Michael Quinn Patton

life changing movements and the spread of social innovation

Jan Prince writes:

Getting to Maybe by Frances Westley, Brenda Zimmerman, and Michael Quinn Patton, is a confluence of Blink, The Tipping Point, and The Fifth Discipline. It is inspiring, thoughtful, and instructive.

Using examples of life-changing movements initiated by individuals with a vision (like Grameen Bank's Mohammed Yunus, Live Aid's Bob Geldof, and Candy Lightner of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the book lays out its theory of how social innovation spreads.

It reminded me of my work with the NLP Disney Dream Model — Start with a passion and Vision; Design a plan (get others involved); Run into Obstacles; Stand back and be still — ask questions and explore the landscape; Revise or Exit the dream, according to the new information (be open to the outcome); and continue the cycle.

For anyone who needs inspiration and hope or guidance on how to move forward with ideas — this is a gem!
